How Does the Emergency Contact Feature Work?

To better safeguard your assets, Matrixport now supports the Emergency Contact feature.

If you encounter unexpected circumstances or are unable to log in for an extended period, your designated emergency contact may, under certain conditions, be eligible to assist in managing or taking over your account assets.

By adding at least one emergency contact, this protection will be automatically activated. If your account remains inactive for a long period, we will first reach out to you via your registered contact details, and if necessary, contact your emergency contact to help ensure your account is properly managed.


How to Add an Emergency Contact in the Matrixport App

  1. Log in to the Matrixport App, then go to Account SecurityEmergency Contact.

  2. Enter your emergency contact’s information and tap Save.

    • Note: If you wish to notify your emergency contact by email after adding them, switch on Notify Emergency Contact.

  3. Double-check your emergency contact’s details and tap Confirm.

  4. After adding your primary contact, you can also tap Add Emergency Contact again to add a secondary contact.


How to Edit or Delete an Emergency Contact

Edit:

  • Go to Account SecurityEmergency Contact, then tap the Edit icon next to the contact you wish to update.

Delete:

  • Go to Account SecurityEmergency Contact, then tap the Delete icon next to the contact you wish to remove.


How to Set Your Account Dormancy Period and Contact Window

  1. On the Emergency Contact page, tap the Edit icon next to Account Dormancy Period.

  2. Set your preferences for Account Dormancy Period and Contact Window:

    • Account Dormancy Period: If there’s no account activity during this time, we will start the process of contacting you and your emergency contact.

    • Contact Window: Before contacting your emergency contact, we will first attempt to reach you directly.

  3. Tap Save to apply your settings.


When Matrixport Will Contact Your Emergency Contact

If your account remains inactive beyond your set dormancy period, we will first try to contact you using your registered contact information to confirm everything is fine.

If we do not hear back from you after the contact window ends, we will activate the emergency contact process. We will then reach out to your emergency contact(s) — both primary and secondary — to assist you if needed.

We will notify your emergency contact(s) via both email and SMS, and send a friendly reminder every 7 days after the first notification until the matter is resolved.
